At the center of global responses to challenges to maize and wheat agriculture.

In 2017, CIMMYT and its partners were at the center of global responses to several grave challenges to maize and wheat agriculture, including wheat blast in Bangladesh, fall armyworm in Africa and the need to replenish maize seed supplies in Haiti.
CIMMYT strengthened its presence in China through a new research center established at Henan Agriculture University. New partnerships with companies in Mexico are supporting the responsible sourcing of maize and wheat grain.
CIMMYT is also leading the Excellence in Breeding Platform, launched in 2017, which is attracting new partners.
